Below is a listing and brief description of the roles that we need to fill for this season as well as a link to the current job description.  With the exception of the Camp Apprentices, Summer Maintenance and Assistant Cook, all candidates must be at least 18 years of age as of June 30th, 2017.  Only short listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.

We have just received approval for funding through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.  As a result, we are looking to fill two brand new positions.  Applications are being accepted until Monday, May 29th.  

Program Director 

Duration:  June 5th - August 26th

Job Description:  HERE

The Program Director is responsible for the overall summer program at the camp.  He/she will ensure that all activities are designed to provide a Christian community camping experience for campers, fellow staff, campers’ parents and visitors.  He/she provides oversight of the staff including staff scheduling and the arrangement of cabin groups and is also responsible for the scheduling of weekly themes and activities.  He/she is expected to participate and assist in leading staff training.  They will also execute a Leaders In Training (LIT) Program that will include an evaluation and assessment process.  The Program Director will function as the Director’s Designate when the Camp Director is off-site or on time off.

 

Music Leader

Duration:  June 5thth - August 19th

Job Description:  HERE

The Music Leader is responsible for the selection and execution of teaching the music that will be sung, played and listened to throughout the summer.  They will be a key component of the intentional community atmosphere each week and over the entire season.

Leaders In Training (LIT) program that will include an evaluation and assessment process.

Counsellors - 4 positions available - 2 MALE POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Duration:  June 5th - August 19th

Job Description:  HERE

The Counsellor is responsible for the care and supervision of up to ten campers in a community living environment. He/she will also provide leadership to participants in the camping program.  The Counsellor will be responsible for supervising the assigned Cabin Apprentices and Leaders In Training.

 


Lifeguard Counsellor - STILL AVAILABLE

Duration:  June 5th - August 19th**

Job Description:  HERE

The Lifeguard/Counsellor must coordinate and supervise camp participants in the waterfront activities as well as evening wide game and other recreational programs. The Lifeguard/Counsellor will ensure participants comply with water safety regulations and ensure proper maintenance and storage of waterfront equipment. 

The Lifeguard/Counsellor will also be responsible for the care and supervision of up to ten campers in a community living environment. He/she will also provide leadership to participants in the camping program. The Lifeguard/Counsellor will be responsible for supervising any assigned Cabin or Outdoor Ed/Waterfront Apprentices and Leaders In Training.

 


Assistant Cook - STILL AVAILABLE

Duration:  May 31st - August 19th**

The Assistant Cook is to assist the Head Cook in the running of the kitchen.  This will include assisting in all aspects of meal preparation, including clean up, meeting or exceeding health standards and helping to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.

 


Summer Maintenance Worker - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  June 5th - August 19th**

The Summer Maintenance Worker is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the camp site. This task includes grounds keeping, minor repairs and janitorial duties.


Office Administrator - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 15th - August 26th

Job Description:  HERE

The Office Administrator is responsible for carrying out day to day administrative tasks in the camp office. They will also be responsible for regular online communication via Facebook, Twitter, and the Camp Kannawin website as well as taking photos and video as required by the Camp Director.

 


Outdoor Educator - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 29th - August 26th

The Outdoor Educator is responsible for all outdoor educational (camp outs, cook outs, archery, orienteering to name a few) activities at the camp.

He/she will be responsible for a daily session of outdoor education with the campers. All activities designed by the Outdoor Educator are to provide a safe and age appropriate outdoor skill level within the Christian community.


Head Cook - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 24th - August 19th**

Job Description:  HERE

The Head Cook is responsible for running the kitchen at the camp, including the preparation and serving of all food and maintaining the cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas.

He/she is expected to create a menu of balanced meals and order all necessary food and supplies in consultation with the Camp Director. The Head Cook also needs to keep inventory on cleaning and other kitchen supplies and notify the Director when replacements are needed. He/she will be supervising the Assistant Cook and any other kitchen assistance including volunteers.

 


Health Care Attendant - POSITION FILLED

Duration:   June 5th - August 19th

Job Description:  HERE

The Health Care Attendant is responsible for ensuring that campers, staff and volunteers take all prescribed medications as instructed by their doctors. To ensure the daily cleaning regimens are followed throughout the facility. 

They will also be responsible for providing the necessary treatments, as well as maintaining logs of all treatment provided. They may be required to travel to a clinic or hospital with campers or staff if an injury is severe enough.

 

 


Camp Apprentices - 6 positions available - ALL POSITIONS FILLED

Duration:  june training weekend (TBD) & July 2nd - August 19th

The Camp Apprentice is to assist the full time staff in the implementation of the summer camping program. This will include kitchen, maintenance and program areas as the schedule warrants.
