Below is a listing and brief description of the roles that we need to fill for this season as well as a link to the current job description.  With the exception of the Camp Apprentices, Summer Maintenance and Assistant Cook, all candidates must be at least 18 years of age as of June 30th, 2019.  Only short listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Great News!  We have just received approval for funding through both the provincial STEP (Summer Temporary Employment Program) and the Canada Summer Jobs Program.  Applications are being accepted until Thursday, May 30th.  

For STEP, we are looking for the follow two positions.  Please note that STEP Grants have specific eligibility requirements - please be sure to read the qualification section on the job descriptions. 

Assistant Cook - STEP GRANT POSITION AVAILABLE

DURATION:  JUNE 3RD - AUGUST 17TH

JOB DESCRIPTION:  HERE

RATE: $580 PER WEEK OR $6,394 FOR THE 11 WEEK PERIOD

The Assistant Cook is to assist the Head Cook in the running of the kitchen.  This will include assisting in all aspects of meal preparation, including clean up, meeting or exceeding health standards and helping to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.

Health Care Attendant - STEP GRANT POSITION AVAILABLE

DURATION:   JUNE 3RD - AUGUST 17TH

RATE: $562 PER WEEK OR $6,187 FOR THE 11 WEEK PERIOD

The Health Care Attendant is responsible for ensuring that campers, KREW and volunteers take all prescribed medications as instructed by their doctors. They ensure the daily cleaning regimens are followed throughout the facility. 

They will also be responsible for providing the necessary First Aid treatments, as well as maintaining logs of all treatment provided. They may be required to travel to a clinic or hospital with campers or KREW if an injury is severe enough.

Program Director - CSJ GRANT POSITION AVAILABLE

DURATION:   JUNE 3RD - AUGUST 17TH

JOB DESCRIPTION:  HERE

RATE: $595 PER WEEK OR $6,545 FOR THE 11 WEEK PERIOD

The Program Director is responsible for the overall summer program at the camp. He/she will ensure that all activities are designed to provide a Christian community camping experience for campers, fellow KREW, campers’ parents and visitors. He/she provides oversight of the KREW including scheduling, the arrangement of cabin groups and is also responsible for the scheduling of weekly themes and activities. He/she is expected to participate and assist in leading KREW training. They are an advocate for the camp during the entire length of their contract (on and off site), even when they leave and pursue other adventures.  The Program Director will function as the Director’s Designate when the Director is off-site or on time off.

Leadership & Training Director - CSJ GRANT POSITION AVAILABLE - POSITION FILLED

The Leadership & Training Director is responsible for planning and carrying out all KREW training during the summer season (in consultation with the Program Director and the Director). They will also execute a Leaders In Training (LIT) program that will include an evaluation and assessment process.

Social Media Coordinator - CSJ GRANT POSITION AVAILABLE - POSITION FILLED

RATE: $560 PER WEEK OR $6,160 FOR THE 11 WEEK PERIOD

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for online communication via social media outlets (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) as well as the Camp Kannawin website. They are responsible for taking photos and video as required by the Director. In addition to these duties, they are responsible for carrying out some administrative duties as assigned by the Director.


Lifeguard Counsellor - 1 POSITION STILL AVAILABLE

Duration:  June 3rd - August 17th**

RATE: $320-$380 per week or $3,520-$4,180 for the 11 week period

The Lifeguard/Counsellor must coordinate and supervise camp participants in the waterfront activities as well as evening wide game and other recreational programs. The Lifeguard/Counsellor will ensure participants comply with water safety regulations and ensure proper maintenance and storage of waterfront equipment.The Lifeguard/Counsellor will also be responsible for the care and supervision of up to ten campers in a community living environment. He/she will also provide leadership to participants in the camping program. The Lifeguard/Counsellor will be responsible for supervising any assigned Cabin or Outdoor Ed/Waterfront Apprentices and Leaders In Training (LIT's).

 

Counsellors - 1 FEMALE POSITION AVAILABLE 

Duration:  June 3rd - August 17th

Rate: $300-$360 per week or $3,300-$3,960 for the 11 week period

The Counsellor is responsible for the care and supervision of up to ten campers in a community living environment. He/she will also provide leadership to participants in the camping program.  The Counsellor will be responsible for supervising the assigned Cabin Apprentices and Leaders In Training (LIT's).

 

Summer Maintenance Worker - STILL AVAILABLE

Duration:  June 3rd - August 17th**

** Possible Extension to August 24th

rate: $300 per week or $3,300 for the 11 week period

The Summer Maintenance Worker is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the camp site. This task includes grounds keeping, minor repairs and janitorial duties.


Camp Apprentices -  4 POSITIONS STILL AVAILABLE

Duration:  June Training Weekend (TBD) & July 1st - August 17th

Rate: $180-$200 per week or $1,350-$1,500 for the 7.5 week period

The Camp Apprentice is to assist the full time staff in the implementation of the summer camping program. This will include kitchen, maintenance and program areas as the schedule warrants.

 



Head Cook - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 27th - August 17th

Job Description:  HERE

rate: $550-$600 per week or $6,600-$7,200 for the 12 week period

The Head Cook is responsible for running the kitchen at the camp, including the preparation and serving of all food and maintaining the cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas.

He/she is expected to create a menu of balanced meals and order all necessary food and supplies in consultation with the Director. The Head Cook also needs to keep inventory on cleaning and other kitchen supplies and notify the Director when replacements are needed. He/she will be supervising the Assistant Cook and any other kitchen assistance including volunteers.

 


Office Administrator - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 13th - August 17th

RATE: $400 a week or $5,600 for the 14 week period

The Office Administrator is responsible for carrying out day to day administrative tasks in the camp office. They will also be responsible for regular online communication via Facebook, Twitter, and the Camp Kannawin website as well as taking photos and video as required by the Director.

 


Outdoor Educator - POSITION FILLED

Duration:  May 27th - August 17th

Job Description:  HERE

Rate: $400 per week or $4,800 for the 12 week period

The Outdoor Educator is responsible for all outdoor educational (camp outs, cook outs, archery, orienteering to name a few) activities at the camp.  He/she will be responsible for a daily session of outdoor education with the campers. All activities designed by the Outdoor Educator are to provide a safe and age appropriate outdoor skill level within the Christian community.
